Whitney Plantation’s virtual event featured My Father’s Name and invited attendees to reflect on the legacies of slavery through the story of one woman’s journey to uncover the truth about her father’s participation in a lynching. The film explores her struggle to find a way to hold her family accountable and face the dawning awareness of her own unconscious racism.
This 20-minute documentary was screened during the webinar, followed by a guided discussion featuring Dr. Ashley Rogers, executive director of Whitney Plantation, Jessie Jaynes-Diming, special projects coordinator of The Emmett Till Interpretive Center, and Connie Royster, executive producer of the film.
